30 Second Clip

This was quite challenging in the aspect of selecting the pieces of clip that fitted with the music. I sampled 30seconds of music from a piece of music i quite liked as the piece im using is in the process of being created/composed for my final 3-6min piece.

I felt this was good to do in ways that helped me get ideas from my head onto paper onto film edited up for a trial run... I feel im getting more attached with the makeup and using it well.

This also featured home made blood mixed with Golden Syrup and water colour controlled with red, green and blue food colouring. My actor said it was rather sticky and when the wind hit it began to harden on his skin. But it really pulled off the effect of blood as well as it being edible for the shot where my actor 'coughs up blood'

In all i think i know what i need to perfect as i wear glasses and my vision isnt 20/20 i found it quite hard to figure out on a 3inch screen on the back of the Nikon D3100 cameras with a basic lens was quite difficult for me to see if the footage was in focus... so i had to dabble about to find the best settings that suited me. Other than that i would be happy to use a dslr as a video camera again for something like this... maybe even stabilise the footage or use some sort of steadicam rig.

Location hunting...

These are a few of the locations i have come across in the Sheffield Area luckily close to where i live.

Still need to search for a more destroyed part of the city to shoot a big scene with Zombie Extras..

Finals from Jamie

These were some of the Trial Videos from the 2nd shoot i did with a different 'talent' who fitted more what id expect to see in a zombie apocalyptic world... I feel this really helped explore the whole depth of my concept bringing life to what a few weeks ago was just in my head.

As my final piece would be visual art it was hard to story board shots... as its not following any narrative.

I will then edit these up into a 30 second clip with music and a gaussian blur fade in to add to the impact from the shots.

Trial with Jamie

Experimenting with Gelatin on skin

As promised i said i would experiment with 'Gelatine' its quite a versatile material but i found it quite easy to peal off with facial movement... i can see why they use it for more of a bruise/burn victim rather than zombie... although zombie flesh can look quite good in this material.

These are a few shots from my test shoot for you to see in full HD showing of the Versatile material Gelatine while applied to my test subject.

Tweaked to look how i want

These were the final looks that i got from my first shoot after abit of a tweak.. with colours.

I think if im going to continue with the prosthetic pieces i need to be able to blend a little bit better. But for now as a first go, i thought it was really well executed.

Will be learning how to blend more with colours.

Trial with Sarah

This was my first attempt at applying liquid latex directly to skin... on a willing victim!

She stated that it was tight around the movement joints but i think thats because for the stability of the pieces i added soaked up cotten wool in liquid latex with thin layers of tissues.

I personally think it went quite well
